Hope, Exploration, and Inspiration through Therapeutic Healing.

Dr. Janet Athey

- - Ph.D. Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Janet Athey is a licensed clinical psychologist who has been helping people in the Charlotte area make essential changes in their lives for 30 years.

She believes that a frank and gentle approach which values the therapeutic relationship is the key to facilitating individual change.

How? By helping clients to find resources and experiences...

Clients are guided to find resources and experiences that create a sense of hope and joy within. Fostering a sense of play and exploration in her clients, Janet often uses humor and spunk to create an inviting space and spark joy.

Janet has been training in martial arts for 33 years with an emphasis on Tai Chi and the meditative healing arts. Incorporating these healing practices has been a cornerstone of her practice as she leads her clients to create calm within the chaos of daily life and past experiences.

"Since childhood, I have been intrigued with people’s life stories and how they take action.

Psychotherapy is a natural outgrowth of this passion and allows me to focus on discovering each person’s latent talents and resources."

"You suppose you are the trouble
But you are the cure

You suppose that you are the lock on the door
But you are the key that opens it.

It's too bad that you want to be someone else

You don't see your own face, your own beauty
Yet, no face is more beautifulthan yours."

~ Rumi
